Socket is a hollow pipe into which a structure like a hand tool can be fit and is used to extend the reach and flexibility of a hand tool. A Socket has a cup shaped fitting with a recess that grips the head of the bolt. The Socket snaps onto a male fitting on the handle. A proper heat treatment is given resulting in a better equalized grain enabling sockets to apply maximum torque and therefore improves life of the socket.
